Notes for Contributors

Manuscripts should be sent by e-mail to: journal@slsjournal.com

Submission of an article for publication in SLS means that the authors assure that the article has not been published before and has not been submitted for publication anywhere else.

Articles should be double spaced, with ample margins, and bear the title of the contribution, name(s) of the author(s) and the address where the work was carried out. The full contact details (including e-mail address) of the author(s) for correspondence should be included. All pages should be numbered. This should be followed by a short description of their current position and research/teaching interests.

Abstract: Please send a one-paragraph (200-250 words) abstract with your article for inclusion on the publisher’s website.

Keywords: Please provide five or six keywords, given in alphabetical order.

Length: Articles generally should not exceed 7500 words, including charts, tables, references, and footnotes.

Tables and captions to illustrations: Tables must be presented on separate pages and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate sheet. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript.

Figures: Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, preferably electronically, suitable for reproduction. If this raises problems, please contact the editors. Figure numbers should be shown as Arabic numerals, table numbers as Latin numerals.

Headings and sub-headings should be clearly distinguished.

References please follow APA style. References should be indicated in the manuscript by giving the author's name, with the year of publication in parentheses. If several papers by the same author and from the same year are cited, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication. The references should be listed in full at the end of the article in the following standard form:

For books:
Barnett, R. (2011). Being a university. Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxon ; New York: Routledge.

Titles of journals should notbe abbreviated.

Referencing software: There are several software packages available to help authors manage and format the references and footnotes in their journal article. We recommend the use of a software tool such as EndNote or RefWorks for reference management and formatting.
